Hi! I first discovered The Supremes in 1964 when I was listening to my transistor radio in Maryland and I heard Where Did Our Love Go? for the first time. From that moment I was a fan for life. That's why I've started this blog. And I welcome you and thank you for coming by!

RIP Mary Wilson (1944-2021)

Mary and I at Blues Alley, Washington D.C., 2003

I learned this morning at 7:30 that my dearest Motown Living Legend, Mary Wilson, had passed overnight.

I have lost a true friend.  I first saw The Supremes at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 1964 singing the 2nd of their 12 #1 Billboard Hits. I first heard The Supremes on my little transistor radio in July of that year singing their first #1, Where Did Our Love Go?  I was sitting on the front stoop of my apartment building and from that very moment it was as if something magical had come over me. I was 14 years old. 57 years later that magic was with me EVERY DAY.  I stood guard with Mary's Mother, Johnnie Mae, Turkessa, Pedro, and dear Raphael at the Pasadena Civic Center when Mary walked to the stage when she was presented the Dr. Martin Luther King Award in January 1985. What an honor. I cherish the many dozens of pictures of Mary & me over the past 50 years and the many dozens--if not hundreds--of cards, letters, picture post cards, & phone calls we've shared. There is so much more to share with you but I am so overwhelmed I best close this for now. Thank you.

Mary and I at a book-signing in Washington, D.C., 1986

Mary and I met privately in 1970 and we have been friends ever since.  I've lived all over the country; Washington, D.C., MD, CA, NO, FL, WV, and AL. I've been blessed to see Mary perform in everyone of these states and she always acknowledged me from the stage.

She was always so beautiful, generous, sincere, kind, and loving.

The Angela Davis Look...

This is about three years old....she calls it her Angela Davis look!

Mary on CBS Sunday Morning

Mary was featured in a story on CBS Sunday Morning this week. It was about "The Green Book" movie, and showed her performing in New York City, and talking about the "green book"...the travel guide African-Americans had to use to find places here in the Deep South where they could stay during segregation.
You can watch it online HERE.

I wish I was able to post a picture of The Supremes' WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO? album cover but can't tonight BUT want to let everyone know that it was an amazing 54 years ago today that their first number one hit (with 11 more to follow) was released. I had just moved to Washington, D.C. that summer & this song changed my life forever. Mary & dear Flo sang 'Baby Baby' 54 times, ironically, during that recording! I will certainly try to post more often but I've been having computer issues lately. Let me hear from you.

Buy a Piece of The Supremes!

An auction house in New York is selling an original score sheet
for the Supremes' "Overture II".

I'll admit it, I don't read music, but I THINK this is the opening for I Hear A Symphony. Am I right???? (My parents owned a chain of music schools...and would they be chagrined that I can't tell if this sheet music is what I think!! (-:

BTW: I named a favorite (but now deceased) dog after the song...and Symphony would be chagrined too!

This is her with a little girl at Do Dah Day in Birmingham 2014.

Here's the page!!!!
No idea how much it will go for, but I'll place a small bid just

in case! HERE's a link to the auction.

Cards from Mary & Martha this week!

What a blessed week I've had as I received post cards from both Mary Wilson & Martha Reeves! It was double delight for me as they both took time out of their busy touring schedule to write. They performed together last night at Cary Memorial Hall in Lexington, MA (4/22/18) I'm sure the crowd was satisfied.

Hi Friends!

As you all know, both Mary and Diana had birthdays in March...6th and 26th, respectively. Both turned 74 and look flawless. They are still performing regularly

Mary is in New York State on the 20th with Martha Reeves and The Vandellas. Here is the ticket page. Wish I could be there.

"Where Did Our Love Go" was released 54 years ago today, and 52 years ago today "Love is Like an Itching in My Heart" was released.

And that's your Supremes' fix for the day!

Hopefully I'm back online without any absence, so please drop
me a note & let me know where you are & why YOU love the Supremes as I do. Thanks.
