Hi! I first discovered The Supremes in 1964 when I was listening to my transistor radio in Maryland and I heard Where Did Our Love Go? for the first time. From that moment I was a fan for life. That's why I've started this blog. And I welcome you and thank you for coming by!

The Supremes 48 years ago today--3/11/1967--take over #1 with 'Love Is Here And Now You're Gone"
‘Love Is Here And Now You’re Gone,’ written by the masterful Tamla team of Brian and Eddie Holland and Lamont Dozier, and produced by Brian and Lamont, was released early that January. With the label’s usual clockwork precision, it hit the street in the week that its predecessor, the previous great HDH creation ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On,’ left the Billboard Hot 100, after topping it for two weeks in November.
The new year of ‘67 was an exciting time for the trio’s millions of fans, with both of those singles included on their new album, ‘The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland.’ Alongside the hits, the album included their versions of HDH songs for other Motown stars, such as the Four Tops (‘It’s The Same Old Song’), the Isley Brothers (‘I Guess I’ll Always Love You’) and Martha and the Vandellas ‘((Love Is Like A) Heat Wave’).
The Supremes gave ‘Love Is Here And Now You’re Gone’ the perfect launch by performing it on ‘The Andy Williams Show’ on January 22. The next week, it entered the US chart at No. 47; six weeks later, it succeeded the Stones’ ‘Ruby Tuesday’ at the summit.

Florence Ballad dies-February 22, 1976--at age 32; 39 years ago!
Gary James Bridge shared Supremes's photo.

Today,
February 22, 1976, dearest Florence (Blondie) Ballard, the founder of
The Supremes, died destitute in Detroit at the age of 32--one of Rock
& Roll's most tragic stories. My heart aches to this day as her
voice was so powerfully strong & versatile but Berry kept Flo &
Mary in the background which wasn't how the group was founded. May she
rest in peace.
Today we keep Florence Ballard in our hearts! http://smarturl.it/Supremes-stream
Stop! In The Name Of Love debuts on February 20, 1965, Supremes' 4th #1, addtional info.
‘Come See About Me’ dropped out of the chart that same week, after a 14-week run, but by now Motown knew exactly when to unveil a follow-up single at just the right moment to keep the hits continuous. ‘Stop! debuted at No. 80, as Gary Lewis and the Playboys moved to No. 1 with ‘This Diamond Ring.’ Motown was already represented in the top ten by the Temptations’ ‘My Girl,’ which climbed 5-4.
A week later, the Supremes single was at No. 41, then soared to No. 13, then 3, 2 and then No. 1 at the end of March. It became their second gold-certified 45, after ‘Baby Love,’ later entering the Grammy and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Among all of the group’s spectacular chart achievements, including their famous run of 12 US No. 1s in a space of five years and four months, one from that 1964-65 season is reported less often. Thanks to Motown’s brilliant production process, not only choosing the right singles but unleashing each one at the right time, the Supremes spent exactly one year on the Hot 100 without a break.
From the point that ‘Where Did Our Love Go’ started its run in the week of July 11, 1964, they were on the chart every single week, across five singles, all of them No. 1s, until ‘Back In My Arms Again’ finished its run on July 10, 1965.
