Isn't
this an awesome picture of Flo, Diana, & Mary? I don't recall ever
seeing it before! Here's some info about "Nothing But Heartaches". This
was their 6th release after "Where Did Our Love Go?" hit #1 as did "Baby
Love", "Come See About Me", "Stop! In
The Name Of Love" & then their 5th consecutive #1 "Back In My Arms
Again"! "Nothing But Heartaches" stalled at #11--yes, it didn't make the
Top Ten! Everyone was shocked! I think there was some hanky panky
behind this as it was a wonderful song & talk was out about The
Supremes couldn't keep challenging The Beatles like they were doing. It
actually was going to be called: "I Can't Break Away" as both lines were
used almost equally throughout the song. Their next 4 songs hit #1
which would have made The Supremes have 10 consecutive #1 Hits
(unsurpassed if it would have been allowed to happen). Enjoy the info.

Where Did Our Love Go is a 1964 album by Motown singing group The Supremes. The album, their second studio LP, includes several of the group's singles and B-sides from 1963 and 1964. Included are the group's first Billboard Pop Singles number-one hits, "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", and "Come See About Me", as well as their first Top 40 hit, "When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes", and the singles "A Breathtaking Guy" and "Run, Run, Run".
With the release of this album, The Supremes became the first act in Billboard magazine history to have three number-one hits from the same album. It was the album that introduced "The Motown Sound" to the masses. It was also, at the time, the highest ranking album by an all female group. It remained in the #2 position for 4 weeks, in January 1965, remaining on the Billboard charts for an unprecedented 89 weeks.

50 YEARS TODAY, JUNE 17, 1964--THE SUPREMES FIRST #1 RELEASED
THIS IS HARD TO IMAGINE BUT:
It
was 50 years ago today that The Supremes' first #1 record, "Where Did
Our Love Go?" was released! They were called the No-Hit Supremes as they
had 8 singles that flopped. After "Where Did Our Love Go?" The Supremes
went on to have 4 more consecutive #1's--a feat yet to be matched by
any American artist or group. After their 6th release (which I feel
should have been #1) "Nothing But Heartaches", failed to make #1 they
then came back with 4 more consecutive #1 hits. They ended up having--as
most people from my generation knows--12 #1 Hits; more than any artist
except for The Beatles (a British group) & Elvis Presley (an
American solo male)! Such incredible memories of fantastic songs.

The Supremes had so many hits, with 12 of them reaching #1 on Billboard Magazine, Variety, Cash Box, etc. that we may have forgotten some of their hits that haven't really been played by the radio stations the past few decades. DIANA ROSS at Jefferson Memorial Coliseum
...on this date, April 21, 1979, 35 years ago today, I had what were supposed to be front row seats to see Miss Ross at Birmingham, AL's Jefferson Memorial Coliseum. My dear friend, Tim Lennox, who then was in Birmingham as a Newsman, got me the tickets. He had another function he had to attend that night so I had to go by myself. When I got there, those of us that had Press & Front Row Seats, were made to move back about 5 or more rows as Diana had lost an Aunt that lived in Bessemer, AL (where Diane was born) & had her entire family entourage get the seats we had tickets for. She also was late to perform that night although, of course, she put on a great show--albeit a tad short. I am a very sympathetic & emotional man but realize death is final & we all are going to go through it. I got the limited edition poster that Tim got for me framed & it has been on display in my homes across the country these past 35 years. I'm proud to have it. The last time I had seen Diana Ross perform was at The Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on January 14, 1970 when The Supremes became The Supremes again with Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong, & Jean Terrell & Diana Ross became a solo act. Tim Lennox is still my friend & is a CBS/ABC Morning News Anchor in Montgomery, AL. Tim has his own blog: TimLennox.com which is certainly worth checking out. I'm thankful to still be alive & still enjoying The Supremes & Diana Ross' music 50 years after they first charted this year with "Where Did Our Love Go?"

The Four Tops - Duke Fakir predicts Supremes reunion

Four Tops star Duke Fakir is predicting Diana Ross and Mary Wilson are
going to reconcile their friendship and reunite as The Supremes for a
concert.
The 78-year-old singer thinks the time could be right for the two stars to put their differences aside after so many year and put the iconic Motown group back together one last time with Cindy Birdsong.
Duke - who is the last original surviving member of The Four Tops - told BANG Showbiz: ''I'm going to make a prediction; somewhere down the line I see her and Mary giving each other a big hug and saying, 'Let's do this one more time.' The older you get as you look back, whatever happened in those bygone days is forgotten - usually. Why not? I kind of feel that might be coming up. I think they might do one big concert or it could be a residency in Las Vegas or somewhere like for a week or so. It's very possible, I just see that happening and it would be great.''
Duke - who is currently on tour in the UK with his group and The Temptations - is convinced that Diana, 70, is ready to bury the hatchet with 70-year-old Mary and knows she is ready to perform because she regularly performs, describing her concerts as ''fantastic''.
Temptations star Otis Williams is also hopeful for a reunion and insists the 'Baby Love' hitmaker is in a position where she can play just to cement her amazing legacy.
Otis, 72, said: ''Oh Mother Supreme, as I call her, is still playing. She's in a unique position where she can keep playing and work when she wants to work.''
Mary turned down the chance for a reunion tour as The Supremes in 2000 after she discovered Diana was offered $15 million to do it, whilst she was offered $4 million and Cindy less than $1 million.
The last time Diana and Mary appeared on stage together was on the 'Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever' TV
special in 1983.The Temptations and The Four Tops - joined by special guests The Platters and Freda Payne - are playing concerts across Britain this week, including Manchester Arena tonight (02.04.14) and The O2 in London on Thursday (03.04.14).
